WARREN, Pa. – It turned out to be a pretty good evening for the Warren Girls’ Majors All-star team Monday.
The predicted severe storms held off, the field at Betts-Jackson was in great shape and Warren topped Potter/McKean, 21-4, as Alexis Jones and Nikita Nelson combined for a 4-inning no-hitter.
Warren wasted little time getting the bats going as the girls scored six runs in the first inning. Potter/McKean struck for three in the bottom of the inning to cut the deficit to 6-3.
The Warren offense erupted for nine runs in the second inning to push the lead to 15-3.
Warren added three more runs in each of the third and fourth innings to run the score to 21-4.
In addition to throwing two no-hit innings, Jones had a double and a triple. Marley Rectenwald had two doubles and a triple and Alexis Pascuzzi went 3 for 3. Warren will be back in action Wednesday against either DuBois or Punxsutawney at a location TBD.
