WARREN, Pa. – John Anderson Construction swept a boys’ juniors doubleheader on Friday, while Superior Tire won girls’ minors games on Thursday and Friday, and Nyquist Long picked up a boys’ majors win in Little League play.
BOYS JUNIORS
JOHN ANDERSON CONSTRUCTION 9, BETTS 2; JOHN ANDERSON CONSTRUCTION 12, BETTS 8
John Anderson Construction took both games in a doubleheader against Betts on Friday, winning by scores of 9-2, and 12-8.
In game 1, Ayden Stiteler and Heath Genis hit doubles for John Anderson Construction.
For Betts, Cole Fitzgerald hit a single and Holden Demers pitched a complete game and had a nice base hit.
For John Anderson Construction in game 2, Ayden Stiteler hit a double and Broc Bryan hit a single.
For Betts Aaron Shene and Holden Demers hit singles.
BOYS MAJORS
NYQUIST LONG 9, A&B HEATING 5
Collin Havers hit an inside-the-park home run and Keegan Weissinger had a pair of triples to lead Nyquist Long. Jaret Lang and Grant May also tripled, while John Papalia doubled, and Matt Shippee had a pair of singles.
Shippee got the start on the mound and struck out eight in four innings. Weissinger struck out four over the final two innings.
Eddie Abplanalp and Tanner Stuart combined to strike out 12 on the mound for A&B Heating.
Abplanalp had a pair of hits, Ty Bryan doubled, and Stuart, Dru Abbey, and Jack Abplanalp also had hits.
GIRLS MINORS
SUPERIOR TIRE 13, ONEIDA LUMBER/ACE HARDWARE 11
Bristol Holden hit a 3-run home run and struck out seven in three innings to lead Superior Tire to a 13-11 win over Oneida Lumber/ACE Hardware under the lights at Betts Jackson.
FROM MAY 18: SUPERIOR TIRE 19, CAMERON ENERGY 1
On Thursday, Holden tripled and struck out six over two scoreless innings in a 19-1 win over Cameron Energy.
