WARREN, Pa. – Family and friends of gathered for the 9th Annual Brokenstraw Fish & Game Club Leek Party to remember and celebrate the life of LeRoy VanTassel on April 29. This year they raised $11,250 which was donated to the Warren General Hospital Cancer Center.
“On behalf of all of us at Warren General Hospital Cancer Center we thank you, for choosing Warren General Hospital as the recipient of your Memorial Funds,” WGH said in a release. “We are truly honored and appreciate your giving back in such a meaningful way.”
VanTassel’s family and friends all say that he was larger than life in both physical form (a mountain of a man) as well as personality. One of his passions was to feed people. He was described as having a heart of gold. VanTassel was no stranger to hard work and was always willing to rush in to offer help to someone who needed it. When VanTassel became ill he received his treatment at the Warren General Hospital’s Cancer Center. The staff there were all very kind and loving in their care for him and his family.
