LaVern Jay Silvis, 70, of 3639 Lottsville Niobe Road, Bear Lake, Pa., passed away at his residence on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021.

Born January 17, 1951, in Corry, Pa, he was the son of the late Harry A. Silvis Jr. and Eleanor L. Nichols Silvis.

LaVern served in the U.St. Navy during the Vietnam War Era. He was a member of the Sugar Grove American Legion, loved riding his Harley and fast cars. He will be remembered as race car driver number 64.

Surviving are two daughters: Brenda (Bobby) Mahaffey of Gallatin, Tenn. and Jeannie (Mandy) Hepler Brady of Jamestown, N.Y.; one son, Morgan (Kristin) Croscutt of Fairview, Pa.; six brothers and sisters: Chuck, Ralph, Gloria, Karen, Nellie and Alyce; five grandchildren: Brandi, Dylan, Devin, Dakota and Dustin; four greatgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Nelson Silvis; four brothers: Bob Silvis, Harry Silvis, “Cork” Silvis, Gary Silvis; and one sister, Dee Atchley.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, Oct. 27, from 10-11 a.m. at the Relevant Church, 100 West South St., Corry, Pa., where a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Lottsville Cemetery and will be private.
