Lady Knights Sharp in Scrimmage at Port Allegany

August 21, 2022

PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. – Tracey Jakubczak had a shutout in net, and Elley Eastman and Clara Steinberg each scored a goal as Eisenhower topped Port Allegany, 2-0, in its first preseason girls soccer scrimmage of the year.

Eastman scored her goal about 10 minutes into the contest. Julia Gesing played Eastman through the defense and she was able to beat a defender and place the ball in the back post.

Steinberg nearly had a goal later in the half, but just missed the net. It took only a couple of minutes for her to find the back of the net. She collected her own rebound and put it past the keeper to make it 2-0 heading to the half.

The Gators pressured in the second half, but Jakubczak was up to the task. Port Allegany had a penalty kick late in the half, but Jakubczak was able to turn it away to preserve the shutout.

“It was a great effort by all of the girls,” Eisenhower coach Alex Johnson said. “It is nice to see the teamwork and passing already being a highlight of games when we are only at our first scrimmage. We will look to build off the win and tailor our second week of the preseason to fill in some gaps before our second scrimmage.”

The Lady Knights will host Corry on Saturday, Aug. 27 at 11 a.m.
