Lady Dragons Topple Franklin for Fifth Consecutive Win

WARREN, Pa. – Warren won its fifth consecutive game and tightened its grip on the top spot in Region 5 with a 47-17 win over Franklin.

Alana Stuart led a balanced offensive effort with 11 points, while Gracie Ruhlman, Peyton Wotorson, Meea Irwin, and others helped lead a defense that allowed just 10 points in the final three quarters.

“We really want the region title,” Ruhlman said. “We haven’t won that since 2015 and they are (Franklin) some of our biggest competition, them and Conneaut. We figured let’s turn it up this game.”

A Jamie Blum 3-point play for Franklin put them within one, 8-7 with 2:28 to go in the first quarter. Warren (12-6 overall, 6-0 Region 5) outscored Franklin (10-8, 4-2) 39-10 the rest of the game.

Alyssa Farr knocked down a 3 in the first quarter and Peyton Wotorson had an old-school 3-point play.

Wotorson scored all seven of her points in the first half, one of eight players to score in the game for Warren.

Sammie Ruhlman finished with nine points, Wotorson and Farr seven each, Halle Kuzminski six Gracie Ruhlman three, and Irwin and Emily Davidson two each.

Jenn Blum had seven points to lead Franklin.
