Lady Dragons Put Scare Into Blackhawk Before Falling in PIAA First Round

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Warren put a scare into WPIAL runner-up Blackhawk for a half before the Cougars pulled away for a 51-32 win. 

Warren was within six, 26-20 at halftime, but Blackhawk went on an 11-4 run in the third quarter to gradually pull away.

Alena Fusetti led a balanced Blackhawk effort with 14 points, while Kassie Potts and Aubree Hupp added 10 each.

The Cougars were also 14-of-19 from the free-throw line.

Sammie Ruhlman scored nine of her 10 points in the first half for Warren, while Alana Stuart also had 10 points and Gracie Ruhlman six.

Blackhawk moves on to play Knoch, a 53-44 winner over Punxsutawney, in the second round on Wednesday at a site and time to be determined.
