John R. ‘Ronnie’ Bross

John R. “Ronnie” Bross a lifelong resident of Sheffield and more recently a resident of Kinzua Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Warren, Pa., passed away on Nov. 17, 2021, due to an extended illness.

Ronnie was born Feb. 20, 2034, at home in Sheffield, and was the son of the late Michael and Avanelle Albaugh Bross.

He was a graduate of Sheffield High School and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 195256 during the Korean War with honorable discharge.

He worked at United Refining Co. and later retired from the former National Forge Company. He was a previous member of the Sheffield Vets Club Honor Guard and the Sheffield Rod and Gun Club.

A man of few words, Ronnie enjoyed “taking his gun for a walk” during hunting season, could be seen around town riding his bike or at the daily “coffee klatch.”.

He is survived by his son, John R. ”Rusty” Bross and wife, Kathy of Frederick, Md.; a daughter, Kathryn L. (Kate) Barsody and husband, Leonard Jr. of Youngsville, Pa.; a sister, Janyce Barr of Sheffield; his grandchildren: Kaylee (Sean) Bowser, Kelsey (Brandon) Schott, Monica (Chris) Clinch, Michelle Morelli and Justin (Julia) Morelli. Additionally, he is survived by 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his brother, Michael T. Bross; a grandson, Jason Morelli; and his brother-in-law, Joseph Barr.

At his request, burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery, veterans section where a private family service will take place at a later date.

The family suggests a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association or organization of their choice.
