James (Tim) Arland California, 86, of Starbrick, Pa. passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 at the Rouse Home.

He was born in Vandergrift, Pa. to the late Marshall and Adeline Tinelli California. James was a 1952 graduate of Apollo Ridge High School.

James worked at the Pittsburgh Des Moines Steel Company for 44 years. He was plant foreman and was instrumental in the construction of the Saint Louis Arch. He was extremely proud of his work on this project and of the completed Arch. He was also instrumental in the completion of fuel chambers for the Apollo programs space missions, and the Three Rivers Stadium structural fabrication. James was past president of the Starbrick Volunteer fire department where he was a volunteer for many years. He enjoyed woodworking and made many beautiful treasures for his family and friends. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing with his family and friends. He is remembered for his sense of humor and helpfulness to others.

He is survived by his three children all of Warren, Pa. Darcee Lynn (David) Nell, James Walter (Kimberly) California and Mark Alan (Patricia) California. Five grandchildren: Danielle (Nell) Eaglen of Meadville, Pa., Lindsey (Nell) Wilson of Warren, Pa., Jamie California of Warren, Pa., Kristi (California) SimpsonĀ of Warren, Pa., and Jared California of Warren, Pa., five great-grandchildren; Chase and Quinn Eaglen, Haiden and Carson Simpson, and Stevie California.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Florence (Gray) California. A private funeral will be conducted in the Spring for family and friends
