May 23, 2021

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Youngsville senior Jake Hogg won both the high jump and triple jump at the District 10 Class 2A Track and Field Championships at Slippery Rock University Saturday.

Hogg cleared 6′ 5″ in the high jump and went 44′ 10 1/4″ in the triple jump. It was Hogg’s third D10 title in the high jump.

“I felt pretty good,” Hogg said. “It’s been great. I was so excited for today after not being able to compete last year.”

Hogg, who also finished fourth in the javelin, will join Sheffield’s Emily Foster and Emily Leichtenberger at the PIAA Class 2A State Track and Field Championships Friday at Shippensburg University. Events are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.

Eisenhower’s Alex Hummel took fifth in both the 400 and 800.

On the girls’ side, Warren’s Kyleigh Wilson took third in the long jump, and fourth in both the 100 and 200.

In boys’ Class 3A action, the Dragons’ 4 x 800 relay team of John Seyler, Corban Reinard, Grant Heeter and Graham Carr took third, as did Alex Ferry in the high jump.

Warren’s Ben White finished fifth in the 100 and 200 and was part of the 4 x 100 relay team-along with Aiden Sibits, Parker Shene and Ethan Best-that missed a top-5 finish by the narrowest of margins. Franklin edged out the Dragons, 46.24 to 46.27, for fifth.

Over in Class 3A, Cathedral Prep easily outdistanced second-place General McLane, 150-99, while the Hickory girls edged McDowell, 169-160.
