The Knights opened the scoring just six minutes in. Cassie Smelko took a corner kick and put it in front of the goal where Gesing blasted it in.

The second goal came 17 minutes into the first half. Elley Eastman took the ball to the corner, then sent a centering pass to Gesing who put it in for the 2-0 lead.

“The girls really came out strong in the first half,” Eisenhower coach Diana Elmquist said.

Eisenhower was unable to get anything else past Tigers keeper Natalie Slagle, who finished with seven saves.

“Maplewood came out faster in the second half and the (girls) were not able to put any more into the net,” Elmquist said.

Renninger picked up the shutout in net.

Eisenhower travels to Titusville Tuesday.
