George W. Murphy, 94, of 315 Patti Lane, Pittsfield, PA., passed away at home on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021.
George was born on Aug. 30, 1927, to the late George Henry Murphy and Ada Marie Wadsworth of Albany, N.Y.
George served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Hawaii. After the war, George came back to work at New York Central Train Station and eventually worked for Latham Water Department for 38 years.
He was also a Sunday school teacher for Lishakill United Methodist Church in Albany, NY, where he shared some great memories. One of the happiest memories George would share were the hunting days with his son, Jeffrey. He was blessed to have a son who loved the outdoors as much as he did. Upon his retirement, he traveled for 12 years with his wife, Charlotte, going out west and back east and into the southern states.
Along with his parents, George was preceded in death by his bride, Charlotte on April 19, 2021. The two of them were inseparable and enjoyed every minute of their journey together.
George is survived by his daughter, Linda Brown and her husband, Leonard of Pittsfield, along with their children: David Sullivan and his wife, Pam, Ashley Reyda and her husband, Michael, and Joshua Brown; his great-grandchildren: Parker Nichols, Quentin Reyda and Charlotte Reyda. George is also survived by his son, Jeffrey Murphy and his wife, Patty, of North Warrensburg, N.Y., and their son, Jeremiah Murphy.
A memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
