Gatto, Heacox Earn Medals at District 10 Diving Championships

ERIE – The Warren diving team continued its run of District 10 medalists as a pair of Dragons divers placed in the top five at the D10 2A Diving Championships Friday at McDowell High School.

Laney Gatto and Izzy Heacox finished fourth and fifth, respectively, during Friday’s event. Gatto narrowly edged out Heacox for the fourth spot, 205.00-204.85, in the six-dive format. The medals continue the run started by Katie Madigan who finished third in 2021 and won the D10 title last year.

Fairview took the top two spots with Laney Veres (255.25) winning D10 gold and Katie George (223.85) finishing second. Corry’s Sylvia Elmquist (212.10) was third.

Of the top five finishers, Elmquist is the only senior, with the remaining four juniors.

Only the top two advanced to the PIAA State Diving Championships.

Warren’s Ellie Yeager (157.05) finished 10th and Bailey Williams (147.00) was 11th.
