Andy CloseGary W. Johnson, 75, of Pleasant Township, Warren, Pa., died peacefully Wednesday evening, Sept. 1, 2021, at the Rouse Home, Youngsville, Pa., after an extended illness.
He was born July 7, 1946, in Titusville, Pa. Gary was the son of Ernest R. and Kathryn L. Daelhousen Johnson.
He was a Warren area resident most of his entire life and a 1964 graduate of Warren High School.
Gary was employed with Betts Industries and Warren State Hospital in the dietary department, retiring from there after many years employment.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Gary enjoyed playing cards, Elvis music and was an avid car enthusiast.
He is survived by his two sons: Timothy Johnson and wife, Kathy and Rick Johnson, all of Warren, Pa.; one sister, Joanne L. Vavala of Pleasant Twp., Warren, Pa.,; one brother, Pete Johnson of Lake City, Pa.; two grandchildren: Michael Johnson of Waterloo, S.C., and Emily Jameson and husband, Shane of Warren, Pa.; one great-grandson, Liam Jameson; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Jane Luise Bertetto Johnson, whom he married Sept. 18, 1965, in Warren, Pa., who died who died June 3, 2013; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Johnson.
Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East St., Warren, Pa., on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021,, from 10-11 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park, Warren, Pa.
