UPDATE: Family Searching for Sheffield Teen

April 10, 2021

SHEFFIELD, Pa. – A Sheffield family is searching for a teenager who they said they haven’t seen or heard from since Thursday evening.

UPDATE, April 10, 11 p.m.: Warren-based Pennsylvania State Police issued a press release late Saturday night indicating Latesia Pierce, 14 of Sheffield, was reported as a juvenile runaway at approximately 6:39 p.m. Thursday, April 8. Pierce reportedly contacted a white male between the age of 17-21 via social media, police say. Pierce was last seen entering a Black Honda Accord with multiple stickers on the rear of the vehicle at Sheffield High School on April 8.

Pierce is described as being 5-feet tall and weighing approximately 130 pounds with light brown skin and brown curly hair with hazel eyes. She is reportedly wearing a gray medical boot on her right leg. Pierce was last known to be in the area of Cuba, New York, according to PSP-Warren.

Anyone with information about Pierce’s whereabouts, or who has contact with her, is asked to contact PSP-Warren at 814-728-3600.

**This is an update to a previously filed story. The original story follows.

According to Facebook posts from multiple family members – at least one of which has been removed after being shared over 600 times (others were still on Facebook as of 5:30 p.m. Saturday, including one that was shared more than 100 times) – Latesia Pierce, 14, of Sheffield, was last seen entering a Black Honda Civic with New York license plates following a track meet at Sheffield High School Thursday, April 8. Her family reported her missing on Friday, April 9, when she did not return home and they were unable to contact her.

Warren-based Pennsylvania State Police told Your Daily Local that they don’t believe Pierce was abducted but that they will release more information soon.

Because they don’t believe Pierce was abducted, no Amber Alter could be issued.

Mikki Tylene Pierce, Latesia’s aunt, told YDL late Saturday morning, that “they pinged (Lateisa’s) cell phone and she is in Cuba, N.Y.” She did not clarify who “they” was.

The Cuba Police Department told YDL Saturday afternoon that Pierce was believed to be “in the area, but wasn’t found.”

Cuba PD referred YDL to the PSP barracks in Lewis Run, McKean County.

PSP-Lewis Run, however, said they were “unaware” of any information regarding Pierce.
