Elite Eight: Dragons Race Past Clarion, Extend Win Streak

WARREN, Pa. – The Warren Dragons were firing on all cylinders in Friday’s non-region game against Clarion.

Ben Berdine scored 20 points and Parks Ordiway knocked down five 3’s en route to 19 points as the Dragons rolled to a 69-38 win, their eighth in a row.

The Dragons’ defense was firing on all cylinders, led by Tommy Nyquist, who locked up Clarion’s leading scorer, Cal German (20.7 ppg.), as well Berdine, who had back-to-back steals in the second quarter that keyed a 21-6 run and JT Blum, who swatted away several Bobcat shot attempts.

Payton Barnes and Alex Borger had eight points each, while Berdine ripped down 10 rebounds and dished out four assists. Nyquist and Barnes had five assists as well for the Dragons.

Eight different Dragons made their way into the scoring column, including Bryce Blair and Kody Vega.

Beau Verdill led Clarion with 12 points, while German added 11.

Warren is right back in action Saturday, with a key Region 5 contest against Fort LeBoeuf. JV is slated for 6 p.m. with varsity to follow.
