Eisenhower’s Black, Jaquay go 1-1 on First Day of PIAA Wrestling Championships

HERSHEY, Pa. – Eisenhower senior wrestlers Gannon Jaquay and Cael Black both went 1-1 on Thursday and are still alive in their respective consolation brackets at the PIAA Class 2A wrestling championships at the GIANT Center.

Both won their preliminary round matches to start the day, with Jaquay earning a 3-2 decision over Dalton Clymer of Northwest Lehigh at 152 and Black garnering a second-period pin against Britton Spangle of Glendale at the 2:53 mark.

Jaquay followed up his first-round win and lost via tech fall to Southwest Region champion Jackson Arrington of Forest Hills via tech fall, 19-4.

Black, meanwhile, was pinned in the second period (2:41) by Southeast Region champion Brad Morrison of West Perry.

Both are still alive heading into action on Friday with the goal of getting to the podium with a state medal.

Jaquay will meet Cooper Price of Wyoming Area in his first consolation bout on Friday, while Black has a matchup with Anthony Govern of Southmoreland.

Second-round consolations along with quarterfinal action get underway at 9 a.m. Friday.
