Eisenhower Knocks off Rival Youngsville for Second Win in as Many Days

February 17, 2022

YOUNGSVILLE, Pa. – Trailing by as many as nine in the first half, Eisenhower rallied for a 50-39 win over Youngsville in Region 2 action.

A day after knocking off Region 2 lead Saegertown, Eisenhower outscored Youngsville 29-15 in the second half against Youngsville.

With the win, the Knights improve to 12-9 overall and 9-4 in Region 2 with one game to go in the regular season (at Maplewood Friday).

“They’ve played some other teams tough here too,” said Eisenhower coach Ryan Mangini about the feisty Eagles.

Wyatt Lookenhouse led a balanced Eisenhower effort with 13 points, while Curt Darling netted 12, Kyler Black nine, and Kris Bunk seven.

Darling scored eight of his points in the second half and Bunk all seven of his during the final 16 minutes.

“We talked about before the game if we got down not to panic and I don’t think they did,” Mangini said. “I think they came out in the second half and did a great job attacking the offensive rebounds. We knew we had a size advantage and sometimes you don’t always use that advantage like you want to. In this situation, I think the guys did a good job doing that and a lot of second-chance opportunities.

Kobe Hendrickson poured in a game-high 15 points for Youngsville, while Keegan Mesel added nine.

“I thought offensively we were pretty disciplined at the end of the game,” added Mangini. “Sometimes we don’t slow it down when we’re supposed to but I think today we did a good job.”

The Knights will find out their playoff fate over the weekend, as District 10 is likely to release playoff brackets on Sunday.
