MEADVILLE, Pa. – It’s on to the semifinals for the Youngsville Eagles.
The No. 3 Eagles scored 10 runs (four in the fifth, six in the sixth) to pull away from a 12-2, 6-inning win over No. 6 Union City in the District 10 Class 1A quarterfinals on Monday at Allegheny College.
Youngsville collected 12 hits – all singles, as the top five in the order – Matt DeSimone, James Johnson, Nate Lucks, Keegan Mesel and Wyatt Dalrymple had two hits each, as did Aidan Mancuso.
DeSimone drove in three runs and Ethan Senz two, while Johnson, Mesel, Dalrymple and Mancuso scored two runs each.
Lucks went 5 ⅓ innings to get the win, allowing one run on four hits, striking out seven without issuing a walk.
Wyatt Post took the loss, allowing two runs on three hits in 3 ⅓ innings, striking out three and walking three. Daithan Kent was 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Bears.
Youngsville advances to Thursday’s semifinal round where they will meet No. 2 West Middlesex, a 7-1 winner over Reynolds. The other semifinal will pit No. 1 Saegertown against No. 5 Cochranton.
