Dragons Travel to General McLane Looking to Bounce Back

October 1, 2021

It wasn’t the result the Warren Dragons were looking for last week, dropping a 41-0 decision in a battle for first place in Region 5 against Meadville.

The Dragons (3-2) look to get back on track in Week 6 when they travel to General McLane to take on the Lancers in another Region 5 tilt.

Warren’s normally high-powered offense was held in check in the loss to Meadville, and they will look to break out against a GM team that is coming off a 40-20 non-region loss to Butler.

Tommy Nyquist has rushed for 427 yards and five scores, while Ethan Senz has 269 yards on the ground. Eric Dippold has thrown for 609 yards – 362 of which have gone to senior receiver Ben White.

John Amon has rushed for 364 yards and three scores for the Lancers, while Dylan Sheeder has thrown for 350 yards and five scores. Amon has also thrown for three scores, with Eric Salamonsen, Magnus Lloyd and Owen Martin have two scores each.

Nick Pennucci leads the Dragon defense with 37 tackles, followed by Gage Shaffer (35), Kody Vega (29), Easton Hultberg (26) and Rashad Fofana (22). Vega leads the team with 4.5 sacks, while Gage Shaffer and Justice Green have 4 each.

Lloyd and Chance Adamski spearhead the Lancer defense.

Warren is 3-1 in the region and GM 2-1, while Oil City is also 2-1 in region play. The last time the two teams met was in 2019, when Warren won 13-12, its first win over the Lancers in program history.
