Dragons to Host Corry in Regular Season Finale

October 29, 2021

The Warren Dragons have one final hurdle to clear before the District 10 Class 4A playoffs.

That test comes in the form of the Corry Beavers, who come to War Memorial Field for a 7 p.m. kickoff. It’s been a tough season for the Beavers, who haven’t won a game, but the Dragons (4-4) want to go into the postseason on a high note before their rematch with General McLane.

Warren is coming off a 22-7 loss in the mud to unbeaten Northwestern last Saturday. Eric Dippold has stepped in nicely at quarterback for Warren, tossing for 13 touchdowns, with eight of those going to Ben White, whose 619 yards ranks among the best in District 10. Tommy Nyquist (585 yards, five touchdowns) has led the ground game for the Dragons.

Nick Pennucci, Gage Shaffer and Kody Vega are Warren’s top tacklers.

Corry is coming off a 45-7 loss to Hickory. Nathan Lesher has thrown for 426 yards and run for 160 more for the Beavers.

The Dragons’ wins this season have come over Conneaut (Pa.), Harbor Creek, Franklin and Oil City. Their season-high in points came in the 47-29 win over Franklin, while they also own a 33-0 shutout over Conneaut, which came in their season opener.

Corry’s losses have come at the hands of Sharon, Titusville, North East, Fairview, Fort LeBoeuf and Hickory. The Beavers also had to endure a lengthy layoff due to COVID.

Hunter Savitz leads the Beavers with 251 rushing yards. Corry’s high point total of the season came when they put up 20 against Fairview.
