Dragon Golfers Capture First District 10 Title in Program History

MEADVILLE, Pa. – For the first time in program history, the Warren Dragons are District 10 boys’ golf champions.

The Dragons, led by Braddock Damore’s 72, finished with a team score of 314, nine strokes ahead of Cathedral Prep (323) at The Country Club of Meadville on Monday for the Class 3A crown.

“Our hard work paid off today,” said Warren coach Nate Sandberg. “I am so proud of our team as well as Kate Shippee, who competed in the girls district championships.”

Brady Berdine shot a 75 for the Dragons, while Connor Zaffino shot an 83 and Reid Olsen an 84. Johnny Palmieri also carded a 94.

Cooper Wierzchowski shot a 75 and Connor Laird a 76 for Prep.

Damore and Berdine qualified for Tuesday’s final round of the individual championships. Berdine is part of a group of four three strokes behind Damore that also includes Wierzchowski, McDowell’s John Ferretti and Erie’s Eli Nicklas.

Shippee, meanwhile, just missed the cut for the girls, finishing with a score of 119.
