Dr. Melburn E. Landin, 90, of Sugar Grove, Pa, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at the John & Orpha Blair hospice house. Mel received a Bachelor’s degree from Alfred University and a Doctorate from Case Western Reserve School of Dentistry. He married the love of his life, Margaret “Peggy” (Berquist) Landin, on August 20, 1955. After teaching Physics at Eisenhower High School for a year, Mel served in the US Air Force as a dentist for a few years. In 1959, Mel moved with his young family back to his home in Sugar Grove to start his dental practice, was joined by his son, Paul, in 1989, and continued until his retirement in 2001. Always eager to serve, Mel was Chairman of the Board of Camp Mission Meadows, Covenant Manor, and Mission Covenant Church for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hobby farming, directing the Church choir, singing in a men’s quartet, and traveling.
Born on April 30, 1930, in Sugar Grove, a son of the late Arthur and Alice (Lundburg) Landin, Mel grew up in the home that his father built. As a young boy, he became a member of Mission Covenant Church.
The funeral service will be on Sunday, March 7, at Mission Covenant Church 7205 Matthews Run Road, Sugar Grove, Pa 16350 at 2:00 pm, with visitors received for one hour before the service. Rev. Brian Haight will officiate. The burial will follow in the Mission Covenant Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Mission Covenant Church Building Fund.
