Council to Move Forward on Several Grant Proposals

August 3, 2022

WARREN, Pa .- Warren City Council approved the go-ahead to pursue three state grant opportunities during Monday’s special meeting.

The funding includes $500,000 for the development of a Liberty St. hotel, as well as $50,000 for commercial facade repairs and $25,000 for blight planning.

The $500,000 would be awarded to DewBoi Properties.

“The purpose of the funding is for redevelopment,” said City Manager Nancy Freenock of the $500,000 to DewBoi. “The purpose of this program is to reinvest in the community.”

Freenock added that the council had to act quickly on the grant.

“We just became aware of this grant opportunity,” Freenock said. “We had to have a project that was shovel-ready.”

Freenock added that the facade program funds would also be available to any business in the city’s commercial zoning district.
