Warren City Council during Monday's meeting.

Council Forms Marketing Committee With Villella to Serve as Chair

January 18, 2022

WARREN, Pa. – Warren City Councilman Jared Villella will be spearheading a new effort, a marketing committee to serve as a liaison with local businesses and members of the public.

“I’ve had conversations with business owners about this particular issue and what we can do to better promote ourselves as a city for current citizens and a resource for businesses coming to the area,” Villella said during Monday’s council meeting.

Villella noted that the primary function of the committee is to serve as a liaison with city businesses and realize a marketing plan for the city.

“This is something that was at the top of the list for me,” Villella said. “It will be about developing goals and strategies and working with city staff where possible. Also, we want to encompass the WCCBI (Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry) into this and any other organizations that may be useful.”

Villella will serve as the committee chair, with the committee to consist of two other council members.

Fellow council members Wendy McCain and Phil Gilbert were selected to serve on the committee along with Villella.

“I think this is going to be fantastic and it’s something I’m in support of forming,” said Mayor David Wortman.

The goal was to get the committee formed now, prior to the summer season, so they can get some strategies in motion.

“Items coming out of this committee can be recommended to the council for approval,” said City Manager Nancy Freenock. “Said committee can’t take official action but can make recommendations to council.”
