Conewango Creek Clean-Up Slated For Sept. 11

September 8, 2021

Whether you are more comfortable on land or in a canoe or kayak, everyone is welcome to attend so please meet up with the Conewango Creek Watershed Association (CCWA) for this year’s annual creek clean-up on Saturday, September 11th

You also have the option of doing your own little mini cleanup. Please also pre-register for this and more information will be sent. For the in-person cleanup, check-in begins at 8 a.m. at Front Street in Warren, PA. The planned clean-up/bag drop off locations will be mapped and signs will be posted along the river for the identified route.  Participants should be on the water or going to their on-land sites by 9 am and the event will end by 1 pm. You are welcome to participate in the entire event or any portion of it.

Volunteers are required to sign a waiver, check-in, and check-out at the registration site at Front Street, PA.  Preregistration is required.  Volunteers can go to www.conewangocreek.org to register.  Follow the link for registration and complete the form.  Children must be at least 12 years old and accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.

Waivers for children must be signed by their parent or legal guardian, which can also be found at www.conewangocreek.org.  For quicker registration, please print the waivers out ahead of time, fill them out completely and bring them with you to the event.  If you wish, you can scan and email the completed forms to [email protected].   You can also register by calling the CCWA Office at 814-726-1441.  We will be outside for this event, but we ask all attendees to practice masking/social distancing while near others (mainly while at our registration site where volunteers may gather and at lunch).

Coffee and doughnuts will be provided in the morning and a hot dog lunch will be provided at the Front St. location.  We will be out rain or shine so please dress for the weather.  Only stormy weather will cause the event to be canceled or have a delay in the starting time. Wear long pants and sturdy, closed-toe shoes.  Other desired items to bring would be a hat, sunscreen, insect repellant, rain coat, warm layers, water and snacks as well as any medications, you may need.  Gloves and plastic bags will be provided.  Be prepared to get wet and muddy.  CCWA and our sponsors will take care of providing portable bathrooms (at registration site only), dumpsters and disposal of all clean-up items collected.

Canoes will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.  Boats are not guaranteed for everyone, but you are welcome to bring yours too.
