WARREN, Pa. – A proposal that aims to aid security in the rec yard at the Warren County jail was the subject of discussion at Monday’s Warren County Commissioners work session.

“Essentially, it involves replacing the chain link fence and adding additional security measures,” said Commissioner Jeff Eggleston.

The proposal comes on the heels of Michael Burham’s escape from the jail in July in which Burham was aided in his escape by a deficiency in the chain link fence before scaling the roof with a rope made of tied up bed sheets.

The proposal, crafted by Chief Clerk Pam Matve, would “strengthen the security on the prison yard,” which is on the top floor.

The commissioners said they will possibly look to adopt the proposal as soon as Wednesday’s (Sept. 13) meeting.

“We’re trying to be as expeditious as we possibly can,” said Commissioner Tricia Durbin.
