UNION TOWNSHIP, Pa. – A Clarendon woman was killed as a result of a one-vehicle accident near Union City on Monday afternoon, according to a release from Pennsylvania State Police.

According to Corry-based PSP, Sheryl R. Devaul, 70 of Clarendon, was driving a 2000 Toyota Camry west on Route 6, just east of Mitchell Road at approximately 2:18 p.m. when it failed to negotiate a left turn and exited the roadway.

The vehicle crossed the eastbound lane and exited off the south side of the road, police said, before it began to spin counter-clockwise while headed southwest. The vehicle traveled “approximately 113 feet, seven inches before striking a brick wall in the 2 o’clock position,” police said.

After striking the brick wall, the vehicle went airborne and hit the side of a residence, then traveled another 34 feet before coming to rest facing a northeast direction, according to police.

Police said Devaul suffered fatal injuries as a result of the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash is still under investigation.

Police were assisted on the scene by the Union City Fire Department, Union City Ambulance, the Erie County Coroner’s Office, and Dave’s AuTow Service.
