ERIE, Pa. – The Warren Lady Dragons have had plenty of great teams, but never a class as decorated as the current senior group under 14th-year head coach Lisa LaVan.

Riley Childress and Emma Ruhlman (LaVan’s oldest of three daughters) became the winningest class in LaVan’s tenure on Saturday, and are believed to be the winningest class in program history, accomplishing the feat in Saturday’s 37-21 Region 6 win over Erie High.

Childress scored 19 points in the win and Ruhlman 11.

“It says a lot about them,” LaVan noted. “To be compared with DJ’s (Hahn) group and Margo’s (Loutzenhiser) group, that says a lot about them. We’re hoping there are a lot more games left.”

The duo surpassed the class directly ahead of them with Kelsey Stuart and Teagan Paris (73-30). The Class of Margo Loutzenhiser, Alanna Hultberg, and Sierra Matson went 72-28, and the group of DJ Hahn, Lizzy Marsh, and Paige Wilson, the first to win a D10 title in program history in 2016, went 67-25.

“Hopefully we keep building on those wins and they are a group to chase for a long time,” LaVan added.

Childress went 9-of-9 from the free-throw line and Ruhlman had eight rebounds, with Gracie Ruhlman pulling down seven boards.

The Lady Dragons improved to 13-3 with the win.

Sammie Ruhlman had three points and Alana Stuart and Gracie Ruhlman two each.

Torreuna Roberts led Erie with seven points.
