Andy CloseCharles F. “Charlie” Kemery, Jr., 84, of Russell, PA, passed away on Tuesday evening, October 6, 2020, at his home. Born on March 28, 1936 in Warren, PA, he was the son of the late Charles F. and Kathryn Elizabeth Wilcox Kemery.
Charlie was a 1955 graduate of Youngsville High School. He first worked at Tremblay Transfer and later worked as a Class A Nuclear Welder with Struthers Wells Corp. for 40 years. He later retired from Blair Corp. He was a proud union representative of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. Charlie was well liked, and he cherished all his friendships. He had a great sense of humor! He was a notable musician playing with North County Showmen, Junie Schenk, Pete Pepke, The Moonlight Ramblers, and Watergate Clyde. Charlie enjoyed gardening, carpentry, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Janet “Dutch” Thompson Kemery, whom he married on June 22, 1989 in Warren, PA; two sons – Paul (Cindy) Kemery and Charlie (Decotah) Kemery, all of Russell, PA; two daughters – Denise Brown (Scott Chase) of Russell, PA, and Shelley (Bill) Gross of Marlton, NJ; four grandchildren – Alex, Vanessa, Gina, and Angela; 2 great grandchildren – Willow and Lucy; one sister – Jeanette Mauk of Warren, PA; and a large extended family. In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by a brother – Paul Shirley.
There will be no public visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Kitchen Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
