Caught with Your Pants Down: Alleged Burglar Removes Pants During Crime

October 21, 2020

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. – An Oil City man discovered the literal meaning behind the phrase, “getting caught with your pants down,” during an alleged burglary incident Tuesday.

According to Franklin-based Pennsylvania State Police, Matthew Graham, 27 of Oil City, attempted to steal several vehicles, including a pickup truck, Ford box truck, a motorcycle and a 1969 Buick Wildcat, from a residence on Allegheny Avenue in Cranberry Township.

Unsuccessful in the attempted theft, Graham crashed a forklift into the pickup truck, police say. The owner of the vehicles confronted Graham and “it is understood that at some point during the commission of this burglary, (Graham) removed his pants and shoes for unknown reasons,” according to police.

Graham was taken into custody and is facing charges of burglary, theft, criminal mischief and drug related charges, police say. He was lodged into the Venango County Jail on a parole detainer, according to police.

State police said they are also looking for Rachel Knight, formerly known as Rachel Yount, who they believe to be a co-conspirator in this incident.
