Carolyn H. Confer

Carolyn H. Confer, 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021, at Kinzua Health Care and Rehab Center after a brief stay recovering from a fall at home.

She was born at home July 16, 1931, in Blanchard, Pa. She was the daughter of the late Clyde and Charlotte Bechdel Heverly.

Carolyn grew up in the Blanchard-Lock Haven area. She graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1949 and worked there as a secretary until her marriage to Marshall F. Confer. Carolyn and Marshall were married Dec. 28, 1951, in the Blanchard Church of Christ and began their life together in Clarksville, Tenn., while Marshall was stationed at Fort Campbell, Ky. They would have celebrated 70 years of marriage this Dec. 28.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Marshall; two sons: Keith (Judy), Warren, and Gregg (and companion, Kate Sekely), Waverly, Pa.,: five grandchildren: Rachael (Robbie) Hopewell of Knightdale, N.C,. Nathan (Tracy) Confer of Seattle, Wash., Reed (Sierra) Confer of Jim Thorpe, Pa., Fielding Confer, Cambridge, Mass., and Paige Confer of Warren; three great-grandchildren: Ellie and Barrett Hopewell and Zara Confer; a sister, Rachel (Rich) McFarland of Audubon, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, William Miller, Beech Creek, Pa.

She moved to Warren in 1970 when her husband was transferred with GTE (Osram). She worked in the office at the Warren County VoTech, at Penn Bank (National City), and at Herbert’s Shoe outlet where she was also their No. 1 customer due to her passion for shoes. She will be remembered for working with crafts, especially painting pictures and making beautiful, embroidered cards. She also enjoyed her flowers, cooking, canning and spending winters in Bradenton, Fla., where she was a member of the Pirates Booster Club.

She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Warren, the D.A.R., Eastern Star, BPW of Warren, Circle 8 square dance, and the Russell Volunteer Fire Department Auxillary.

Friends will be received at the PetersonBlick Funeral Home Inc, 1003 Penna. Ave, East, Warren, on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021, for one hour prior to a funeral service to be held there at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Joel Dingeldein, pastor, Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. In accordance to CDC guidelines, masks must be worn.
