Carmen N. Ferranto

Carmen N. Ferranto, 73, of Russell, formerly of Kane, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 2, 2022, in his home.

He was born in Kane on September 22, 1948, the son of the late Rocco and Emidia “Mary” (Minolfi) Ferranto. Carmen was a graduate of Kane High School Class of 1966, received his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Penn State University, and his Master’s Degree in Public Health Administration from Alfred University. He married the former Susan E. (Detrick) and she survives. Carmen started his working career as a therapeutic aid with Warren State Hospital and retired as CEO of the hospital.

He was past president of the board of directors with Warren General Hospital, served many years with the Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry, a board member with Safe Harbor of Erie, member of Pine Grove Lion’s Club, Pine Grove Township Supervisor, a member with the Pine Grove Sportsman Club, and enjoyed his monthly coffee group with former state hospital friends.

Carmen had a love for Porsche’s and BMW’s, he often attended driving school at Watkins Glenn Raceway, he was very involved in martial arts, enjoyed being outdoors, hiking, and loved to socialize, he was kind, compassionate, and a loving family man. He also had a place in his heart for Penn State University and the late Joe Paterno.

Carmen is survived by his loving wife Susan E. Ferranto; three children Cheri McJunkin and husband David of Russell, Wendy Kobojek of Claredon, and Timothy Ferranto and wife Tricia of Sherman New York; four grandchildren Emily McJunkin and her finance Logan Bellardo, Anna McJunkin, Jacob Ferranto, and Samuel Ferranto; one sister Adeline Stoneburg of DuBois; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Lucy Ferrano, Roxanne Powers, and M. Teresa Heller.

Friends may call on Thursday, January 6th, 2022 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Russell Volunteer Fire Department, 66 Perrigo Lane, Russell PA 16345. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:00 pm in the fire hall with the Rev. Todd Venman, pastor of Wiltsie Community Church, officiating. Private burial will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery.
