BREAKING: Benefits Of City of Warren Fire Department, Pleasant VFD Co-Op Laid Out

October 15, 2020

At a public meeting on Thursday, Warren Fire Department Chief Rodney Wren, former Fire Chief Sam Pascuzzi, Steve Hoffman of the WFD and Tim Johnson of the Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department all spoke about the benefits of a co-op between the two.

Several issues continued to crop up throughout the course of the discussion, including the increased response time from volunteer departments because of a decrease in volunteers, increased responses from WFD outside the city and the costs that entails.

“If the pilot program succeeds, city staffing is maintained and townships cover the costs of the service they desire,” Wren said. “Our goals are to get personnel and ambulances out the door quickly so we can save lives.”

The City and Pleasant are currently running a pilot program.
