BREAKING NEWS: Body Identified as Missing Warren Man

WARREN, Pa. – Authorities confirmed Monday that the body found in the Allegheny River near Tidioute Friday afternoon was that of a Warren man who went missing in February.

An autopsy performed in Erie confirmed that the body was that of John Christopher Nelson, 55, who was last seen on Feb. 5.

“The reported cause of death was determined to be drowning,” Warren Police Chief Joseph Sproveri said in a statement. “No foul play is suspected and the investigation into this incident is closed.”

The Erie County Medical Examiner determined that the body discovered in the Allegheny River Friday was that of John Christopher Nelson, who went missing in early February.

The Warren Police Department conducted multiple searches of the river but was unable to find Nelson. Dispatchers received a call for a water rescue on Davey Hill Road in Tidioute at approximately 2:35 p.m. Friday. Emergency personnel arrived to find the body of an unidentified male in the water.

The Erie County Medical Examiner performed the autopsy.
