Beaty 8th Grade Volleyball Takes 3rd at Maplewood Tourney to Finish Season

GUYS MILLS, Pa. – The Beaty 8th grade volleyball team wrapped up its season with a third-place finish at the Maplewood Tournament on Saturday, March 9.

The 8th Grade team defeated Eisenhower (25-15, 24-26, 25-11) on Monday and Sheffield (26-24, 25-18, 25-13) on Tuesday before heading to the 12-team Maplewood tournament on Saturday.

With wins over Conneaut Lake (26-24, 25-16) and Union City (25-16, 25-15), and a split with Maplewood in pool play (25-11, 22-25), they earned a top seed and a first round bye heading into playoffs.

In bracket play, they beat Conneaut Valley (25-18) before finally ending their day with a semifinal loss to Corry (25-16) to earn their 3rd place finish. The 8th grade team finished with a record of 11-2-2.

Stats for the week: Hailey Cabisca 24 kills, 12 digs, 46 aces; Ava Wymer 18 kills, 11 aces, 9 digs; Grace Schwab 13 kills, 2 blocks, 4 digs; Adelaide Keeports 10 kills, 1 block, 7 digs, 8 aces; Michaela Dolan 49 assists, 3 kills, 10 digs, 8 aces; Kelsey Johnson 3 kills, 4 digs, 12 aces; Tia French 2 kills, 4 digs; Alexis Sharp 15 digs, 3 kills; Kiera Garris 4 aces, 2 kills, 16 digs; Carly Fitzsimmons 3 digs; Addison Brown 6 assists, 2 digs

The 7th Grade team beat Eisenhower (25-12, 25-12, 25-20) on Monday before losing to Sheffield (14-25, 25-22, 25-15) on Tuesday. On Friday they finished their season at the Cochranton tournament where they defeated Saegertown (25-17, 25-22), and lost to Maplewood (25-18, 25-17) and Meadville in pool play and eventually losing in the quarterfinals. Their final record for the season is 7-6-2. (no stats available)
