Barr Announces Candidacy for Warren County Treasurer

March 23, 2023

WARREN, Pa. – Current Warren County Deputy Treasurer Lisa Marie Barr has announced her candidacy for Warren County Treasurer.

Barr, a 2008 Jamestown Business College graduate, has been Deputy Treasurer for three years. Prior to the Deputy Treasurer post, Barr worked for 11 years at Southern Tier Pediatrics as a medical office assistant “doing various accounting and billing tasks.”

“As Deputy Treasurer for the past three years, I have had the privilege of meeting many of you personally,” Barr said in a release. “It is always a good feeling to serve the people of Warren County answering your questions and offering the services necessary to complete your business here.”

Barr said some of her duties in the Treasurer’s Office included receiving payments from various offices such as Tax Claim, Register and Recorder, and Assessment, along with planning and zoning, and collections. The Treasurer’s Office would then deposit monies to correct accounts and approve funds to be dispersed from accounts.

“Balancing these accounts regularly is where my accounting experience is necessary since the monetary collections inside the courthouse ultimately travel through our office to the proper bank accounts,” Barr said. “The position requires attention to detail, problem-solving, and accuracy, all skills that my experiences as Deputy Treasurer have helped refine.”

Barr’s family has resided in Sugar Grove for 18 years, where they have been active in community activities such as playground construction, Sugar Grove’s annual Christmas Walk, sporting events, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Sugar Grove sale days, and crafting events at local fire departments and festivals. Barr’s husband of 23 years, Ross Barr, is the captain of his own fishing charter business as well as a heavy equipment operator and transporter at Lakeshore Paving. Together with their two children, they enjoy camping, traveling, fishing and are avid hunters.

“Working these past three years as your Deputy Treasurer, I feel that I have acquired the capabilities to perform in the position of Warren County Treasurer, for you the residents of Warren County,” Barr said. “I look forward to continuing this service and any challenges ahead of me. I would greatly appreciate your vote in the primary on May 16 and again on Nov. 7. Experience in this position matters.”
