Emily Leichtenberger wasn’t satisfied enough after breaking Sheffield’s lady Wolverines shot put record in Oil City just 10 days ago. In her first action since that day, due to a weather cancellation last week, she put her name onto the Lady Wolverines Track and Field record board again sailing a meet-winning throw in the discus of 104’ 5 1/2”. That throw bested Lauren Bulicz’s mark of 104′ 5″, set in 2005.
Sheffield boys split Tuesday night at Port Allegany falling to the Gators 77-65. They were 70-61 winners over Otto Eldred.
The lady Wolverines fell, 74-50, to Port Allegheny and dropped a heartbreaker to Otto, 48-47.
Leichtenberger led the way for the Lady Wolverines winning all three throwing events. Besides the discus, her winning throws were 109’ 10” in the javelin and 31’ 1 1/2” in the shot put. Emily Foster was also a triple winner for the ladies. She won the high jump with a height of 4’ 8”, the long jump with a jump of 13’ 2”, and the 200 with a time of 31.38. Lexi Goldthwaite was the overall winner of the triple jump with a jump of 29’ 8”. The 4 x 100 relay consisting of Madison Mitchell, Kassidy Orinko, Lexi Goldthwaite, and Emily Foster was also the overall winner with a winning time of 1 minute flat.
On the boys’ side, Lucas McNeal was a double winner in the jumping events. His winning jumps were 18’ 5” in the long jump, and 5’ 6” in the high jump. Gage Mott-Macalush was the overall winner in the discus with a throw of 102’ 2”.
The varsity Wolverines will compete in the Warren County meet on Thursday at War Memorial Field and will travel to Smethport on Friday to compete in the Northern Tier League Championships.
