Alton Chase

Alton G. Chase, 84, of Sugar Grove, passed away Tuesday December 15, 2020 at the Rouse Warren Co. Home.


Alton was born March 27, 1936 in Youngsville, to the late Guy and Mable (Johnson) Chase. He worked at Marlin Rockwell as a lathe operator for 25 years. He then owned and operated C&C Wells with his brother Ned Chase as an oilfield operator and well tender. He was named Fire Police of the Year in 1994 and 1999. Alton was an avid hunter and fisherman, making over 20 trips to Colorado and Wyoming with family and friends. His first trip was to Jackson Hole was in 1966. He also hunted in Canada, harvesting a moose on one occasion. Alton fished Lake Erie, Chautauqua Lake and went on many trips to fish in Canada.

Alton is survived by his children, Alton Jr. (Helene) Chase , Joy (David) Blair, Deanna (Ken) Kuzminski and Donna (Bryan) Clark, all of Sugar Grove, her grandchildren,  Nicole, Steven (LeeAnn) Blair, Mark (Nichole) Blair, Jody Blair, Ben Blair, Nathan (Jenell) Chase, Sami (Shawn) Lawson and Simone Gibson, 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Alton was preceded in by his loving wife of over 60 years Gladys Shaffer Chase, a daughter Sally Chase, his brothers, Guy Chase, Oscar Chase, Charles Chase and Ned Chase, his sisters, Dorothy Slocum, Idabelle Swanson, Annabelle Anthony, Rae Lindell, and Susan Ludwick.

A service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Foster Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial donations may be made to  The Warren American Red Cross 305 Market St. or to the Warren Cancer Care Center, 2 Crescent Park, both of Warren, PA 16365
