WARREN, Pa. – It’s all about the beards.
Located on 73 Market St. next to Subway in Warren, Allegheny Mountain Beard Products had its ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, marking an opening that has been two years in the making.
“This has been something we imagined two years ago when this whole process started,” said Bill Jones, who founded the business along with his wife, Loretta. It was a dream that we had and to see it is overwhelming.”
The story begins with … a story.
“I wanted to go grow a beard and I growing this curly mess on my face,” Jones said. “I walked up to this guy that had a great beard one day and he started telling me this story. So I started looking at the information and how it all (beard oils) worked.”
What he found was that when he went to purchase beard oils, he either didn’t like the smell or texture or in some cases both.
That’s when the experimenting began.
“I like variety,” Jones said. “That’s when I started doing research on essential oils. I started doing my Dexter’s Laboratory, started mixing, and seeing what I liked. Two years of research and stinging up the house and here we are today.”
I quick sampling of the products the Jones’ have developed shows that they have the entire package – smell and texture.
“We have our scents that are completely out of the box,” Jones said. “If you want to go really outside the box, we have our tangerine lavender mint.”
And their products are for people with all types of beards, big and bushy like Jones’ is, or shorter, more traditional ones.
“It’s actually under the beard skin oil,” Jones said. “It helps the foundation and prevents all that itch. It makes it nice and soft so you don’t have to worry about skin irritation.”
