A Decade of Giving: Warren Gives Returns Wednesday

May 17, 2022

WARREN, Pa. – The annual day of giving in Warren County returns Wednesday as Warren Gives gears up for its 10th annual donation event.

Donors have stepped up over the last two years as non-profits were hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. More than $648,000 was raised in 2020, and the 2021 event shattered that record by raising over $731,000.

Those totals include $60,000 in matching funds donated by the Community Foundation, DeFrees Family Memorial Fund, Betts Foundation, Crossett, Northwest Charitable Foundation, McComas Charitable Fund, Sara Sokolski Memorial Fund, Superior Tire and Rubber, and United Refining Company.

The 2021 event recorded 5,832 donations from 1821 donors (an increase of 56 percent over the 2019 event). The average donation was $115.19, though donations ranged from $10 to $7,000. On average, each donor contributed to three organizations. All participating organizations received donations.

“We are grateful for the outpouring of support for non-profit organizations serving Warren County,” said John Lasher, Executive Director of the Community Foundation following Warren Gives 2021. “After last year we were not sure what to expect, but people are so aware of the needs in Warren County and used Warren Gives to support our local organizations. Their generosity is amazing!”

There is a $10 minimum donation, with interested donors able to visit WarrenGives.org and pay via Mastercard, Discover and Visa.

The event runs from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m.

Warren Gives 2022 will feature more than 100 different participating non-profit organizations. Each donor may contribute to as many as 10 different organizations.

Anyone with questions is encouraged to contact the Community Foundation office at (814) 726-9553 or email at [email protected]

Those wishing to monitor the progress on Wednesday may log on to the Community Foundation’s Website at cfowc.org
