33 New Confirmed COVID Cases Wednesday, Ties Single-Day High

December 3, 2020

WARREN, Pa. – Warren County’s single-day high of new confirmed COVID-19 cases was set Monday. The county matched that total just two days later.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s COVID-19 Dashboard data update Thursday, there were 33 confirmed cases reported in Warren County Wednesday. That ties the single-day high set Monday.

There were 212 total confirmed cases reported in November and the county is already at 25 percent of that number through the first two days of December (53).

The county’s cases per 100,000 rose to 934.2. Warren County was below 100 cases per 100,000 until Sept. 8 and ended October at 179.8. November’s rapid increase in cases caused Warren County to move from the “Low” level of community transmission to “Substantial” in just three weeks.

The case increase has also impacted a number of local businesses and events. The Plaza Restaurant, Snuffy’s Café and Lounge, Warren General Hospital, Warren Public Library, Jefferson DeFrees Family Center Daycare, and others have been forced to close for periods or change policies to help limit the spread.

The Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry’s Annual Christmas Walk is still on for Friday, albeit with some modifications. Another annual Christmas event, however, wasn’t so lucky as the Sugar Grove Christmas Walk had to be canceled.

One area Warren County has remained flat is COVID deaths. June 28 remains the only date with a death reported in the county.

The cumulative case count, up to 369 with probable cases, includes those cases the state considers “recovered.”

A case is considered recovered “if a case has not been reported as a death, and it is more than 30 days past the date of their first positive test (or onset of symptoms) then an individual is considered recovered,” according to the Department of Health.
