2 Killed in Route 27 Accident in Pittsfield Sunday

PITTSFIELD, Pa. – Two people were killed as a result of a two-vehicle accident on Route 27 in Pittsfield Sunday.

According to Warren-based Pennsylvania State Police, a 1976 Dodge Dart driven by Charles Scott, 72, of Pittsfield was traveling eastbound on Route 27 and failed to recognize a stopped vehicle in front of him.

As the vehicle attemped to stop, it skidded into the westbound lane and was struck by a 2013 Ford F250 Supercab driven by Jarrod Lyon, 30, of Youngsville. Both vehicles proceeded west and came to rest off the north berm of the roadway.

The Dart’s passenger, Marcelyn White, 80, of Pittsfield, was pronounced dead at the scene. Scott was taken by helicopter to Hamot Hospital in Erie, where he was pronounced dead.

No injuries were reported for the occupants of the F250.

Garland, Youngsville and Westfield Volunteer Fire Departments, EmergyCare and Pennsylvania State Police responded. Route 27 was closed for several hours Sunday afternoon.
